In my office I do use mainly two kinds of Chinese herbal supplements, and those would be: tablet/capsule/pill form or customized powder extract formulas. Tabs/capsules/pills are easier to take, don’t have flavor and are more economical. On the other hand, powder forms can be mixed to create a formula specifically for a particular patient to address his/her unique combination of symptoms.
I am a NCCAOM Diplomate of Oriental Medicine, which means that I have passed not only the acupuncture board, but the herbal national board as well, which is not required in the state of Florida and that is why most acupuncturists in the state are only Diplomate of Acupuncture. You can go to the NCCAOM website and check credentials of the doctors and that way you can find what type of board exams they have passed, Diplomate of Oriental Medicine is the highest credential.
